Tommy Eppinett

Graveside services for Thomas Jefferson "Tommy" Eppinett, 82, Canton, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Chamberlain officiating under direction of Hilliard Funeral Home, Van.

Mr. Eppinett died November 23, 2008, in Tyler.

He was born February 18, 1926 in Start, La., to Os and Victoria Eppinett. Formerly a resident of Louisiana, he moved to Canton in 1975. He was self-employed, working as a carpenter and a framer. He served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Marine Corps. He received a Purple Heart for service during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie Lee Eppinett; and sister, Ossa Mae Vestol.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Aubrey Eppinett, Edward and Teresa Eppinett, and Rayburn and Pam Eppinett, all of Canton; grandchild, Joel Eppinett Jr.; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Donald Baker, Kenny Reid, Kenneth Ottwell, Don Summons, J.R. Summons, Billy Robert Ottwell, John McGraw and Christian Williams.
