MARY HARRIS

Mary Etolia Harris passed away May 15, 2015, in a Grand Saline nursing home. She was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Fruitvale. The family will hold services for her at a later date. Burial was in Creagleville Cemetery.

James “Jim” Walton Shelton, 63, of Wills Point was born Oct. 10, 1951, and died May 19, 2015. Memorial services were held Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Lester House at Lester Park in Wills Point. Arrangements are with Hiett’s Funeral Home.

TAMMY JO GOFORTH

Memorial services for Tammy Jo Goforth, 56, of Dallas, formerly of Forney, were held Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Forney. Arrangements were under the direction of Allan Fuller Funeral Home in Wills Point. She passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, in Dallas. Tammy was born Oct. 3, 1958, in Dallas.

LARRY THOMAS

Larry Ray Thomas, of Eustace, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2015. He was born on June 20, 1943, and raised in Canton. Larry grew up attending the First Baptist Church in Canton, and would later be baptized there. Larry graduated Canton High School in 1961. He married and had four children and continued to live in Canton. Larry moved to Mabank with his family in 1980. Larry attended the First Methodist Church in Mabank. He was a Real Estate Salesman/Broker and worked to develop tracts of land, starting at Westwood Beach off Lake Palestine. He developed lake properties, such as Golden Oaks, and Autumn Acres on Cedar Creek Lake, and Lake Fort. Larry fi shed Cedar Creek Lake and entered many fi shing tournaments, even winning some over the years. He loved to fi sh with his family and friends and loved even more frying the fi sh for them.

JAMES GOLDEN

Services for James William Golden, 88, of Mesquite, were held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton offi ciated by the Rev. Bob Elliott under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home. Interment was in Myrtle Springs Cemetery. Mr. Golden passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, in Dallas. James was born on March 4, 1927, to Earl W. and Viola Golden. He grew up in Myrtle Springs where he attended school. James joined the Army and served during World War II where he received a Victory Medal. He then returned home and married Geraldean Crane on March 14, 1953. They raised their children in Mesquite before moving to Canton and upon retirement moved to Forney. James loved fi shing, painting, gardening, sports, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed watching westerns and John Wayne. James left behind several family and friends who loved him dearly.

SAM HILL

A memorial service was held for Sam Hill on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Pruitt Baptist Church with Bro. David McNary offi ciating. Mr. Hill passed away at the age of 80 on May 16, 2015, at his home. Donald Ray “Sam” Hill was born June 15, 1934, in the Pruitt community, where he lived all of his life. He worked for Van ISD for many years, raised livestock, and later became a dairyman. He was a member of Van Church of Christ, and attended Pruitt Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jefferson Hill and Verlie V. Nations Hill; sister, Lois Baxter; brother, Mike Hill; nephew, Kyle Lake; and niece, Jennifer Hill.

MICHAEL MCDANIEL

Memorial services for Michael “Mike” McDaniel, 73, of Wills Point, will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point. Interment will be at Campground Cemetery in Poetry near Terrell. He passed away Thursday morning, May 14, 2015, due to a short but hard fi ght with cancer at his residence near Lake Tawakoni with his family by his side. Mike, also known as Papa Mac, was born July 16, 1941, in Dallas, the son of Jimmy and Jean McDaniel. He was raised in Wills Point and Dallas. In 1959, he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. Mike went into the family car business, McDaniel Brothers Used Cars in Dallas for 17 years. He later retired from Chem Coast in LaPorte, where he helped build the company. Mike lived in LaPorte for 24 years prior to moving back to Wills Point in October 2012.

NADYNE JAMES

Funeral services for Nadyne James, 90, of Plano and formerly of Wills Point were held Monday, May 18, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Wills Point with Ted Deen Jr. offi ciating. A private burial followed at White Rose Cemetery in Wills Point under the direction of Hiett’s Ly- Brand Funeral Home. Ellen Nadyne Miracle was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Wills Point to Oscar Jehue and Ellen West Miracle. She grew up in Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School. After graduating, Nadyne worked at Rose Dry Goods, Calloway Motor Company and Thurman’s Variety Store. She married Jack Delbert James on July 19, 1946, at the First Baptist Church in Wills Point, where she is still a member. She later retired from Terrell State Hospital after many years of service. Nadyne was an accomplished cook, seamstress and crafter.

J.E. CORNWELL

Julia Ervin Cornwell was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Maypearl, the best Christmas present his mother ever received. He was a resident of Garland for most of his life before moving to Van in 2010. Ervin passed away at the age of 91 on May 14, 2015, in Van. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl K. Cornwell; mother, Maggie M. Cretcher; brother, Bobby Joe Cornwell; and his granddaughter, Wendy S. Miller.
