Grand Saline begins District 12-3A play

The Grand Saline Lady Indians took to the court twice last week, taking on Kemp and Eustace in District 12-3A action.

Kemp, which finished with the worst record of any team competing in District 12-3A last season, defended their home court with a three-set sweep of the Lady Indians Sept. 8.

Grand Saline kept things close in the first set, narrowly being edged out by the Lady Jackets 27-25. Kemp continued to ride the positive momentum built up during the first set into both the second and third, completing the sweep by topping the Lady Indians 25-15, 25-21.

Grand Saline recovered quickly from the loss to the Lady Jackets, bouncing back with a five-set win over the Eustace Lady Dogs Sept. 12.

The Lady Indians took care of business in each of the first two sets, topping Eustace 25-22, 25-16 for a commanding lead.

Eustace responded to Grand Saline's challenge with a run of their own, narrowly topping the Lady Indians 25-23 in the third before dominating the fourth set 25-7.

Grand Saline re-found its footing in the fifth and deciding set, evening their district record at 1-1 overall by topping Eustace 15-10.

The Lady Indians were scheduled to play in Mineola Sept. 16 before returning home for matches against Scurry-Rosser Sept. 19, Edgewood Sept. 22 and Alba-Golden Sept. 26. The matchup against the Lady Panthers will be Teacher Appreciation Night for the Grand Saline program.
