Pitching leads Bulldogs past Pottsboro

The Edgewood Bulldog high school athletic program added another impressive feat May 11-12, watching the school's baseball team match earlier successes by both the football and basketball teams to reach the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs.

In order to reach the third round of the playoffs, Edgewood had to fight off a tough challenge from the Pottsboro Cardinals in the Area round.

The Bulldogs took game one of the best-of-three series, scoring four times in the third inning of a 5-2 win.

Pottsboro got on the scoreboard first, plating a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Edgewood came roaring back in the top of the third, getting an RBI single from Kason Grant and a bases clearing double from Trey Erwin to take a 4-1 lead on the Cardinals.

Pottsboro and Edgewood would go on trade a run each over the game's final four innings, eventually culminating in the Bulldogs' 5-2 win.
