MM trustees approve awning, discuss TRE

Martins Mill ISD Board of Trustees took to business March 7 by recognizing students of the month for March. In elementary, Grace Godwin and Santiago Reyes were introduced by Principal Suzzette Stringer.  Junior high student Samantha Nicodemus was introduced by Principal Don Layton.  High school student Yuyao Huang was unable to attend due to a softball game but will be presented at the next meeting.

During the superintendent’s report, the board received an update on an awning project that will cover the front of the school.  The district has received two bids on the awning that is planned for the front of the school.  Alamo Patio and Athens Steel each submitted a bid for the job.  The awning will connect the main campus to the middle school and gymnasium.  The board approved the awning project criteria and will decide which bid to select at a later meeting.  During the process of building the awning, the flag poles in front of the school will need to be moved.  The approximate cost of the removal and placement elsewhere will be $2,500.
