May 23 may have brought rain to Van Zandt County but it did not damper Career Day at Hallie Randall Elementary in Fruitvale, according to elementary school counselor Leslie Joslin.

“This was our first year to have seven Career Day rotations for PreK through fifth grade students,” Joslin said.

At 8:10 a.m. after announcements students began their first rotation and ended the last station at 10:25 a.m.

Guest presenters were Frog Street Executive Bill Hunt, Canton Vet Clinic veterinarian assistant Amanda Hale, Dallas County Sheriff Deputy John Robinson, nurse Karla Hance, former U.S. Marine Michael Hale Champion EMS employee Steven Erwin and Dallas Police Officer Brad Hance.

“Students learned education is the key to a successful career and you have to work hard to achieve your goals,” Joslin said.  “Students learned about the necessary requirements to be a police officer, a nurse, an EMT, a member of our nation’s military organization, how to run a successful business such as Frog Street Publications and how to care for the medical needs of animals.

“Walt Disney said, ‘If you can dream it you can achieve it.’  That is our goal here at Hallie Randall Elementary to encourage students to dream big and work hard to achieve their dream career! “
